Strollable is built so that the notes you keep about places stay yours. This page describes what the app actually does, not what it might do one day.

What stays on your device

Everything you record about a place — how the walk from the car felt, stroller difficulty, parking, crowd, shade, facilities, your visit date and your private note — is stored on your iPhone and, if you have iCloud turned on, in your own private iCloud database. Apple provides that storage; we cannot read it.

None of it is sent to our servers. The codebase has an automated check that fails the build if personal-observation types are ever used together with networking code, so this is enforced rather than promised.

Saved places and lists work the same way.

What reaches our server, and when

• Signing in. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple issues for you and store a session token. We do not receive your Apple ID password. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, we never see your real address.
• Sharing with other parents. Only when you deliberately submit something. A submission leaves your device only at that moment, and only the fields shown on the submission screen.
• Asking the guide. If you use the in-app guide, your question is sent to our server and to the model provider that answers it. We do not store the conversation on the server.

Browsing places, filtering, saving and recording your own notes all work without an account and without contacting our server.

Location

The app asks for location only while you are using it, and only to sort places by distance and estimate travel time. There is no background location, no tracking between sessions, and your location is not sent to our server.

Children

Strollable is for parents and caregivers, not for children. We do not ask for a child’s name, birth date or photograph. Where the app needs to know an age range to judge whether a place suits your child, it stores that range on your device only.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app. Doing so removes your account record and sessions from our server and revokes the token Apple issued for signing in. Notes held on your device are removed by deleting the app; notes in your private iCloud database are removed through your iCloud settings.
